Red Lizard Whiptail Catfish (Rineloricaria sp. ‘Red Lizard’)

The Red Lizard Whiptail Catfish is a unique and eye-catching bottom-dwelling species known for its slender body, long whip-like tail, and striking reddish coloration. Peaceful and fascinating to observe, this catfish is an excellent addition to planted and community aquariums. It spends much of its time resting on driftwood, leaves, or substrate while grazing on biofilm and leftover food.

This species prefers a well-maintained aquarium with sand or fine substrate and plenty of driftwood or hiding places. The Red Lizard Whiptail is gentle in temperament and generally compatible with other peaceful fish and invertebrates.
